Longford
Lanesboro is a small town on the River Shannon at the northern end of Lough Ree, on the Longford–Roscommon border. It is approximately 17 km from Longford town and is well known as a gateway to the Shannon waterway and the wider lakelands. The N39 routing key covers Lanesboro and surrounding rural areas, including nearby Newtowncashel, Killashee and Clondra.

A compact, friendly riverside and lakeside town with a strong boating, fishing and outdoor-recreation identity.
