Cavan
Blacklion is a small village in west County Cavan, close to the Leitrim border and the northern end of Upper Lough MacNean. It sits near the Cuilcagh Mountain area and the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, with Swanlinbar, Glenfarne, Kiltyclogher and Glangevlin among the surrounding localities. The village is within the F91 routing-key area and provides a modest rural service centre for the surrounding countryside.
Area character
Rural, scenic and community-oriented, with a compact village centre, lakeside and mountain landscapes, and a strong outdoor and heritage focus. Blacklion is quieter and more dispersed than a town, so residents generally rely on nearby villages and larger centres for a wider range of services.
